A little advice from experience to young Mothers

(*and Fathers)

* I am a woman a womb-man, and can only speak from my experiences as such.

When laying Tarot cards, reading a horoscope or palms, children do not like this.

As a mother, you are multi-tasking and your kid(s) can be playing nicely. The moment you get into the occult arts, you break that inadvisable cord that is connecting you with your kid(s).

My advice is to wait when they are sleeping or when they are older and at school, at least not around you.

When their birth-chart is read they are involved and it's about them, there is no problem having them around.

There is however by reading a child's birth chart a difference with reading a grownup person birth-chart.  I think it's helpful for young new parents to know more who entered there life.

I understand that now with all the smart devices, a lot of parents are disconnected from their child.

This is clearly visible on the streets when an infant sits in a pram watching the person staring at the smart device.

Keep smart devices away from children. There is enough information on the danger of radiation and children.

Sugar is not needed and the number one cause of many diseases.

Kids get hyper on sugar and irritating start to fight etc. When my kids were small, I did not give them sugar.

The school they where at did not allow sugar either (Anthroposophic school).

At birthday parties they would get sometimes sugar, they would be fighting and annoying. I let them run on a field, in a park wherever possible to get the excess energy out. Play a game that exhausts them and keeps you fit. Especially when you live in a city.

Personally, I don't think a city is a place to raise a child, but that is my opinion.

The four primary Elements:

Fire, Earth, Air, and Water.

Teach your kids how to have respect for the elements.

Fire is the only element that cannot be polluted.

The Archetype of  Fire

Fire

Some kids like to play with fire. In our so-called modern world,

our homes have often no fireplace anymore.

The fireplace is the heart of the home in many cultures.

Find a way where you safely can make a little fire or include

your child in lighting a candle. Now don't go out and start fires

with your kids. That is not the idea. If a child is attracted to fire,

just help it to respect it. In Holland, we call the fireplace haard,

from the word heart. Now, most domesticated homes don't have a heart anymore.

In some cultures or religions, candles will be lit, as a symbol of a spirit or the sort, often only ones a week.

The Archetype of  Earth

Earth

Earth, there is nothing like playing in soil and sand.

Clay is great for kids, the real clay, not the artificial

perfumed rubbish from the toy-shop.

The Archetype of  Air

Air

Air, make a kite and play with the wind, get creative.

Air stands for

The Archetype of  Water

Water

Water, give child water to play with, or a bath.

Some kids love Water others not.

Each child is different, no one is the same. Teaching your kids to play with the elements is much more healthy than sitting them down in front of the TV. If possible, have no TV at all.

The state of Earth, Air and Water say a lot how disconnected we are from the place we live.

Unfortunately, the quality of the candles is polluting the air of the home. Beeswax candles are expensive but better for you and your children's health. Fire, the element of spirit is the only one that cannot be polluted.

The Heart used to burn or smoulder day and night.

Teach your children to respect the elements, our children are the future.

Earth stands for the material world.

Air stands for the thinking processes.

Water is connected to our emotions.

Compensating one of the elements in behaviour can easily be found in the birth chart of that child.

I think all parents should have the birth chart of the child read. Just the basics: Sun sign, Moon sign, Ascendant or Rising sign and the placement of Venus.

Venus, in particular, Venus shows where the emotional needs are and thus the scarring of life can be avoided, at least softened and understood. For instance, a child with an Aquarius Venus in the ninth house is born with natural doses of knowledge.

The worst thing to tell this child is to shut up, not to take her/him serious, you know nothing you are just a child, and so on and so forth. Of course, we all have our own personal set of lessons to be learned and scarring is one of them. but we can, by knowing, avoid shutting down the creativity of our children.

Mothering myself

In a society preoccupied with how best to raise a child

I'm finding a need to mesh what's best for my children with what's

Necessary for a well-balanced mother.

I'm recognizing that ceaseless giving translates into giving yourself away

And, when you give yourself away, you're not a healthy mother and you're not a healthy self

So, now I'm learning to be a woman first and a mother second

I'm learning to just experience my own emotions

Without robbing my children of their individual dignity by feeling their emotions too

I'm learning that a healthy child will have his own set of emotions

And characteristics that are his alone

And very different from mine

I'm learning the importance of honest exchanges of feelings because pretences don't fool

children

They know their mother better than she knows herself

I'm learning that no one overcomes her past unless she confronts it

Otherwise, her children will absorb exactly what she's attempting to overcome

I'm learning that life is meant to be filled with as much sadness and pain as happiness and pleasure

And allowing ourselves to feel everything life has to offer is an indicator of fulfilment

I'm learning that fulfilment can't be attained by giving myself away

But, through giving to myself and sharing with others

I'm learning that the best way to teach my children to live a fulfilling life is not by sacrificing my life

It's through living a fulfilling life myself

I'm trying to teach my children that I have a lot to learn

Because I'm learning that letting go of them

Is the best way of holding on

Bake often apple pie. This was the best advice I ever got when my four kids were small.

Apple pie

A recipe from my Grandmothers New cookbook

Dated,1920.

The  pastry;                                                                                                                                     250 gr. flour ( I use whole wheat, it makes the pie crust more crunchy)

160 gr. Cold butter (NO margarine) cut into cubes 80  gr. Sugar  ( replace sugar with palm sugar, you can easily reduce to 50 gr. or less.

You can use other natural sweat like barley malt or honey, make sure its honey from nonsugar-fed bees).

2  eggs

Grated rind of half an organic and cleaned lemon ( I use the rind of a whole lemon).

The filling;

 14 sour apples

Sugar (optional)   ( I don’t use sugar)                                                                                        100 gr. Currents and or resins    ( I prefer only resins )

 Cinnamon  powder or stick

(not in the original recipe, but a welcome  spice in the pie )

Wash the resins or currents, remove eventually little sticks of the resins/ currents if needed. Place them in a large cooking pot with little-filtered water till they are just under. Add the cinnamon and simmer until the resins are round and juicy.  While the resins are simmering (this takes a while), start making the pastry.

Brake the eggs in a small bowl and whisk them lightly with a fork.

Put the flour in a large bowl make a hole in the middle.

Add the butter, sugar, lemon rind and 2/3 of the whisked eggs.

Keep the rest of the egg aside to glace the pie just before it goes in the oven.

Mix the ingredients with a wooden spoon, then knead with cold hands till the mass is not sticking to the bowl anymore.

Cover and set aside to rest in the fridge.

You can make the pastry a day before, or keep it cold till the rest is done. The effect in taste from the lemon gets enhanced the longer you let it rest.

Peel the apples, quarter, take the core out and cut into 1 ½ cm pieces.  Add to the puffed-up resins and cinnamon. Mix well so that all apple pieces are coated. Depending on the apple type, let them simmer till half soft. When you have a soft type shorter and when dry be careful with adding water, the juice from the apples will come free. You don’t want it to be soggy. When there is too much juice, you can thicken it with some arrowroot and if you have kuzu you can use that too. I prefer to use kuzu, it adds to the healthy quality of your pie. ( Kuzu and arrowroot are available from health shops and are healthier than a potato or cornflour). Kuzu is a root and is one of the kitchen medicines from Japan, it balances blood when it is too acidic, which happens through sugar.

Set aside covered with a clean cloth and let it cool down.

At this point, you can decide to finish the pie or leave the dough and apple mixture overnight in the refrigerator and finish the next day.

Prepare a clean smooth preferably cold surface to work on. Grease a spring cake tin with butter and set aside. Preheat the oven  220 degrees. The original recipe states a quite warm oven. Woodfire ovens where still in use. Sprinkle flour on the clean smooth surface and take the dough from the fridge and turn on the flowered surface. Take 1/3 and set aside for the topping. With a rolling pin, flatten the dough, use extra flour to avoid sticking. Cut with a sharp knife a circle to fit the bottom, leave enough for the side. Place the circle on the bottom of the greased spring cake tin. Make a long strip of the left flattened dough, flatten again with the rolling pin and make the sides. Wet your hand with cold water and smooth the pastry. Not too wet. Water makes the pastry more crunchy. Make sure the bottom and sides are well mended together so that no juice from the filling can leak through the bottom while in the oven.

Pour the cooled apple mixture in the baking form, and prepare the top. Take the 1/3 dough you had set aside, flatten and cut long strips. Keep putting the offcuts at the end together roll out and cut strips again till all daw is used. Decorate the top with the strips in a weave pattern. Add a little water to the leftover egg, (if you decided to finish the pie a day later, then take a fresh egg) and brush the strips with the egg-water mixture for a glace effect.

Bake the pie for ½ hour. Cool before opening the springform.

This recipe is a guideline and you can experiment with other fillings or add oats to the pastry etc. You will find out how easy it is to make a healthy pie without sugar.  Have fun making apple pies and enjoy.
